As a free (not freelance, a volunteer) writer, I might add that the sponsor should be very clear about what they want and return inquiries by the writer. I had a volunteer job that I had to drop recently because I had a month to work on it before being unavailable for 2 months. I was clear about that, but the sponsor dilly-dallied for 3 weeks. The 2 pages then turned out to be cover pages with links to sub-pages on a website totalling about 15 pages total and they still wanted it in that last week. I had to say no. I thought this might be a good example of knowing exactly what you need as a sponsor and getting your priorities right with yourself and your writer.
