    Communicating Effectively Without Online Tools?

Dannette Sharpley is the executive director of the Black Family Land Trust. As a single staff person, it’s tough for Dannette to reach out to her constituents across the Southeast, many of whom don’t regularly use the Internet. Click on the link to hear Dannette talk about her situation. Have ideas for ways to reach out, given the constraints she’s facing? Leave a comment to share your thoughts.

One Response to “Communicating Effectively Without Online Tools?”

    1. Leyla Farah Says:

      Hi Dannette -

Since you say your audience isn’t on the web and also isn’t using traditional print or broadcast media - here are my two suggestions:

      1. Radio. It’s relatively inexpensive (relative to broadcast) and you can target demographics fairly narrowly.

      2. Text Messages. If your audience uses cell phones for communication, make the effort to get their phone numbers and permission to send them text messages. A very cheap, and very quick way to communicate.

      Good luck!
