Emailing Monthly; Direct Mailing Quarterly

Take the SurveyThe survey for our 2013 Nonprofit Communications Trends Report will close tonight! Please add your voice if you aren’t one of the more than 1,300 nonprofit communicators participating in the survey so far!

Here is your last sneak peak at the early data, before we provide the preliminary release during our free webinar on December 12. The report itself will be available in early January.

As in previous years, we asked nonprofits how often they would email and direct mail the typical supporter on their mailing lists.

No surprise: monthly emailing and quarterly direct mailing remain the most popular frequencies.

In 2012, nonprofits told us that 77% of them expected to email at least monthly (that includes the choices several times a week, weekly, twice monthly, and monthly in our survey). This year, it looks like 75% answer that way.

Earlier this month, we shared these early survey results with you:

Sending direct mail on a quarterly basis is a strategy that works well for many industries. Supplementing it with email in between is a good idea to keep the business top of mind.
