What They Want the Others to KnowYesterday, I told you about a recent workshop with more than 200 nonprofit board and staff members, where we did an exercise for board members to share what they secretly wanted staff to know on yellow notes, and for staff to share what they wanted board members to know on pink notes.

Board members said this; today we hear from staff.  Here are their top three messages:

Learn what we really do. Ask questions. Meet the people we serve. Don’t just be a warm body in a meeting.

You must help with fundraising in some way.

Be our ambassador, our voice, in the community, at all times, not just when we specifically ask you do something.
