Big Picture Communications TimelineKristina and I spent most of Saturday working on our Big Picture Communications Timeline for 2016.

This is the exercise that I highly recommend you do BEFORE you attempt work on an editorial calendar.

And if you are an office supply nerd, like we are, it’s a great excuse to go shopping! So many beautiful colors of post-it notes these days . . .

I devoted the entirety of Chapter 7 in Content Marketing for Nonprofits (Amazon) to the Big Picture Communications Timeline. I prefer to do it on big calendar sheets like we did, or on a huge whiteboard, but you can also use these worksheet templates if you want a smaller version.

Doing the Big Picture Communications Timeline helps you see all of the major factors that drive your communications. It also helps you pinpoint both opportunities to communicate more clearly and consistently and potential conflicts that could create chaos and mixed messaging later.

Get everyone on the same page in your organization by doing your Big Picture Communications Timeline for 2016 before the end of the year.
