I’m offering two special e-clinics this month . . .

20 Days to More Powerful Nonprofit Writing

This e-clinic is for up to 12 nonprofit communications professionals who want to hone their writing skills, focusing specifically on communications with donors and other supporters. We’ll cover a variety of topics, from getting away from nonprofit jargon and formal, stilted language, to using emotional stories and compelling statistics effectively in your writing. You’ll learn (or be reminded how) to write with passion and purpose! It includes our next four webinars, daily articles, assignments on which you can request feedback, and lively discussion. It starts next Thursday, January 13, and costs $299. Get the Details and Register.

Online Fundraising Boot Camp for Small Nonprofits and Small Fundraising Departments

I am teaming up with the Nonprofit Technology Network to offer this three-part webinar series. If you didn’t quite have your act together for year-end online fundraising in 2010, now is the time to fix that. Created especially for smaller orgs, we’ll focus on your website, email campaigns, bringing traffic to your site, and using social media and other tools to keep your supporters engaged so they give again. When you complete the suggested homework in between the webinars, you’ll get personal feedback from me. This series starts Tuesday, January 18 and costs $125 for NTEN members and $250 for nonmembers. (I highly recommend NTEN membership!) Get the Details and Register

What’s Different About E-Clinics?

E-Clinics involve not only webinar training, but also personal feedback and coaching from me and other participants, so you really understand how to tailor what you are learning to your specific situation. I hope you can join us for one or both!

P.S. I’ll offer e-clinics on other nonprofit marketing topics later in the year (including storytelling in March). You can get on the E-Clinic Early Bird List to be the first to know when we open registration for these limited-seating training programs.

These are small group sessions (usually limited to 12-15 people) that include several webinars, a private wiki and discussion board where you can share and network with other participants, and personal coaching with me to improve your skills. They are a great way to get some hands-on training and direct, supportive feedback on your work. They are usually $299 per person.

I’m planning on offering these five topics:

20 Days to More Powerful Nonprofit Writing (January)

Storytelling for Nonprofits (March)

Freelance Writing for Nonprofit Clients – For Consultants and Freelance Writers (Late Spring)

Creating and Managing Your Content (Summer)

Creating an Annual Report Supporters Love (Fall)

I may offer some of these twice, but for now, they are on the schedule just once in 2011.

I will open up registration first to those of you who let me know in advance that you are interested by getting on the Early Bird List for an E-Clinic.

Over the course of a year, we present about 45 webinars in the series, so that’s less than $10 per webinar. You won’t find more comprehensive training on everything you need to know as a nonprofit marketing professional at this price.

Here’s what your Annual Pass includes:

Useful, Informative, and Engaging Training: Our webinars cover the communications, marketing, and fundraising challenges small nonprofits and communications departments of one are facing today. Webinars are interactive and packed with practical how-tos you can use right away.

Access to the Recordings within 48 Hours: Your All-Access Pass includes webinar recordings available to you within 48 hours of the live events.

Formats That Fit Your Busy Schedule: We provide video recordings of all of our training, as well as MP3 of the audio only and PDFs of the slides, if you want a more portable format to take with you on your commute or to the gym.

24/7 Access to the Last Three Months of Training Too: We always have at least the last three months of recordings available in our Recording Archive for All-Access Pass Holders — accessible 24/7. That means when you sign up today, you get the recordings from the past three months too.

Share Training with Your Office Mates: Watch live trainings and recordings together or take turns attending live events. You can share your All-Access Pass with others in your office, as long they work for the same organization, they are in the same physical location, and you only connect to a live webinar through one computer. Multiple connections to live events or public viewings on one pass are not allowed.

Your Questions Answered by Leading Experts: Once a month, All-Access Pass Holders are invited to participate in a special question-and-answer coaching conference call with me and guest experts. Get your specific questions answered directly! These calls are exclusively for All-Access Pass Holders.

Private Consultations with Me as Needed at Discounted Rates: You can book as many 30-minute consultations as you need, via conference calls or online meetings, with me to get one-on-one consultations on your projects, feedback on your ideas, etc. for just $75 per consultation. These Office Hours Appointments are available to All-Access Pass Holders only. There is no other way to book these short, quick-turnaround consulting sessions with me.

E-Books on Writing Annual Reports and More: You also get free access to our e-books, including “How to Write a Nonprofit Annual Report” (with a major update in the works) and “The First 100 Days of Your New Nonprofit Marketing Job.”

Weekly Email Updates: You won’t miss a thing because we send All-Access Pass Holders a special weekly update reminding you about upcoming training, new resources on the site, and Pass-Holder Only Specials.

The $365 special is $100 off the regular price of $465 for an Annual Pass and this is the only time we’ll be offering that deep of a discount, so get yours today!

It’s called Freelance Writing for Nonprofits.

I’ve re-opened registration for another session of the “Freelance Writing for Nonprofits” coaching program created especially for freelance writers and consultants who want to write for paying nonprofit clients. This is not for nonprofit staff — we’ll do a writing e-clinic for you in January.

During the last two sessions earlier this year, I shared everything I knew about building a successful freelance business serving nonprofits, and I’ll be doing the same again this time. I’ve asked four other successful freelancers to share their experiences working for nonprofits too. Between the five of us, there isn’t a challenge we haven’t faced in freelancing for nonprofits.

Here are some of the topics we’ll cover during the three-week program:

What nonprofits expect from the freelancers they hire

The various types of online and offline communications that nonprofits need and that freelancers can produce for them

Tips on writing nonprofit newsletters, annual reports, and fundraising appeals — in print and online

How giving away something for free leads to paid gigs (and when it doesn’t)

Creative ways to promote your business — what works and what doesn’t

What belongs on every freelance writer’s website

Using social media to get more nonprofit clients

The new session begins Monday, November 29 and we have 15 spaces available.

Get the details and join us!

I was going to wait until Tuesday to tell you about our new e-clinic for July, but what the heck. If you are at work today, you deserve a little bonus! (For those of you outside the U.S., this Sunday is Independence Day, which means most of America is slacking off today and Monday.)

July 14 – July 30, I’m hosting an Online Marketing Spa for nonprofit communicators.

If your online marketing looks a little tired or you feel like it needs a boost of energy, this e-clinic is for you.

You will discover fresh new approaches and learn how to eliminate your online trouble spots. You’ll also gain a sense of balance and tranquility when you get confirmation about what you are doing right and get clear direction and support on what you should do differently. You’ll get the training and customized consultations you need to rejuvenate your online marketing program this summer.

A Balanced Mix of Training, Networking, and Personal Coaching

The Online Marketing Spa is a balanced mix of online training, networking and discussion, and personal coaching.

Here’s what’s included:

Five Webinars. You’ll learn about making the pieces of your online marketing program work together; how to build your email and social media lists; how to write for the web, email, and social media; and how to best use Facebook and Twitter. Your spa tickets includes access to the live events and to the recordings.

Essential Checklists. Worth the price of admission alone, these one-page checklists on more than a dozen online marketing topics will help you quickly hone in on what’s most important. We’ll cover

Website Home Pages

Donate Now Pages

Blogging

Email Newsletters

Facebook

Twitter

Video (including YouTube)

Photography (including Flickr)

Internet Radio and Podcasting

Search Engine Optimization

Building Your Email List, Friends, and Followers

Integrating Your Website, Email Newsletter and Social Media Sites

Writing for the Web, Email, and Social Media

You’ll never be confused again about where you need to start with your online marketing.

Ideas from Other Nonprofit Communicators. Other participants in the e-clinic will give one element of your online marketing program the Spa Treatment, sharing their reactions and ideas on what you are doing and how you could do it even better. This kind of feedback is priceless!

You’ll also be able to discuss each webinar on our Spa Discussion Boards with other participants, so you can share ideas, ask questions, and think creatively with other nonprofit communicators about ways to apply what you are learning.

A Personal Review of Your Program. I will personally review up to three elements of your online marketing program and give you detailed comments and ideas in a screencast video that you can share with others on your staff. You’ll see what I’m seeing as I review your online marketing program, pointing out exactly what you are doing well and suggestions for ways to improve in the short-term and long-term.

Special Bonus. I will be recording interviews with online marketing experts in July to fill out the program. You’ll be the first to hear them!

You’ll leave the e-clinic with the knowledge and know-how to rejuvenate your online marketing program.

Sounds good, doesn’t it? Let me make it even better . . .

If you register now, I’ll knock $100 off the registration fee, so entry to the Online Marketing Spa is only $299 instead of $399. We only have space for 25 nonprofit communicators, so reserve yours now, before the rush next week!
