While at the Nonprofit Technology Conference last week in Minneapolis, we were on hand to see the winners of the 2013 DoGooder Video Awards announced.

Four finalists were chosen for each category and then the winners were selected by the public.

The winner of the Best of Nonprofit Video Award was the Rainforest Alliance’s “Follow the Frog” video.

Why it works:

  1. It’s entertaining. Who doesn’t love an epic story of misadventure?
  2. It’s relatable. You probably haven’t quit your job and ended up in a Central American hospital, but you have probably wondered how you could do more to help the world.
  3. It has an easy to follow call to action. You are buying a lot of these products anyway. “Follow the frog” is an easy to remember tagline that helps you make better choices at the grocery store.

Other category winners:

Funny for Good Award – For those creators who are doing well by being funny.

Pathfinder International’s “No Joke. Choice Matters”

Change Agent Award – Awarded for the best use of video to tell compelling, moving stories.

Raf Bauer who lost his mother to cancer and is setting out on a 350km walk across Scotland to raise awareness and funds for Target Ovarian Cancer.

ImpactX Award – A video and short essay category for creators who want to describe the impact their video had on their cause.

END 7’s “How to Shock a Celebrity”

Congrats to all of the winners, and we hope you’ll be inspired to enter next year! And just follow the frog.
