Welcome to the latest edition of Mixed Links, our roundup of good links for nonprofit communicators.
A few weeks ago, I told you about See3 and You Tube’s 5th Annual DoGooder Nonprofit Video Awards. Voting closes Monday so hurry on over to You Tube and cast your vote! The contest received more submissions than ever this year – over 1,350 videos from over 800 organizations. I was honored to be one of the judges that helped narrow the list for your voting. See3 and YouTube will announce the winners live at the NTC and the YouTube homepage on March 19th.
Did you attend my webinar “The New and Improved Nonprofit Annual Report” a few weeks ago, but still aren’t sure about breaking from the traditional format? Philanthropy.com gives some great examples of Online Annual Reports. (And if you missed the webinar last month, I just added it to my webinar schedule for June.)
In Twitter news, check out the HootSuite post on The New York Public Library’s Twitter campaign. Part advertisement for HootSuite (it is their blog after all) and part case study, this article highlights how using the right tools and strategy can increase your Twitter following. In the case of @nypl, their following grew from just under 7,000 to 90,000 in 2010 and they were awarded with the PR News 2010 Nonprofit PR Award for Use of Twitter.
Still not sold on Twitter? Laura Brahm of Open Society Foundation gives Ten Reasons Why We Use Twitter over at The Communications Network Blog.
And once you’ve got all those followers, make sure you find the right mix of updates by reading Member Communications & Information Overload – Finding Balance from Wild Apricot Blog.
Enjoy the weekend!
