Take the 2014 Trends Survey NowIn this year’s Nonprofit Communications Trends Survey for 2014, we are asking the questions about communications frequency a little differently.

We’ve split appeals with a call to action (like “donate now”) from newsletters or other informational communications. We’ve heard from 605 nonprofits so far (our goal is 2,000), and here’s what the preliminary results tell us.

Email Appeals

The most popular frequency for email appeals (fundraising, advocacy or other direct call to action) is quarterly.

Email Newsletters

The most popular frequency for email newsletters (or other informational updates) is monthly.

Direct Mail Appeals

The most popular frequency for direct mail appeals (fundraising, advocacy or other direct call to action) is twice a year, only narrowly edging out quarterly.

Direct Mail Newsletters

The most popular frequency for direct mail newsletters (or other informational updates) is actually never – will not send this kind of direct mail. For those who will send direct mail newsletters, quarterly is the most popular frequency.

Will the final results say something else? If you haven’t already, please take the 2014 Nonprofit Communications Trends Survey now and we’ll send you a free copy of the final report in January.
