Are your communications a random mishmash of visual and verbal styles? Are you trying to manage what feels like a content creation free-for-all, where co-workers do whatever they personally like? Does it feel like you are forced into the same conversations — or arguments — about style, voice, and tone over and over and over?

Then it’s time to establish a Brand and Style Guide. This guide describes the look, feel, tone, voice, and style of your communications so that all of your content creators produce consistent, effective communications that require less editing and negotiating on your part. Brand and style guides are an essential #CALMnotBUSY planning and collaboration tool.

During this Jump Starter, you’ll receive:

  • Training on what a brand and style guide is and how to use it in your nonprofit

  • Guidance on making important decisions before designing your brand and style guide

  • Sample brand and style guide sections to help you create a first draft

We’ll also walk you through these questions:

  • What problems are you trying to solve? Where do you need firm rules and where do you need suggested guidance? How much detail is required?
  • Where is the greatest need for consistency? Are you more concerned about the way things look, how programs and services are described, the style and tone of communications, or something else?
  • Just how much do you need? Will a cheat sheet do, or do you need a longer style guide? Or are you ready for a full-blown brand book?

And you’ll get access to sample brand and style guide sections and templates so you can pick and choose what to include in your guide. You’ll have time during the workshop to copy what you want and delete what you don’t, leaving you with your own private copy, customized for your organization.

What Others Have Said about Our Jump Starter Workshops

“I appreciate the interactive component of the Jumpstart workshop. It was valuable having the opportunity to apply what we are learning during the session. Instead of setting myself a reminder to “do this,” I came away with a framework I can put use almost immediately. Thank you! This is a great direction to take your training sessions.” – Holly Pattison

“I loved connecting with others. I can not say enough how much I like the dedicated work time.” – Beth Helmueller-Perkins

“I loved the hands-on time to start building something useful. And the general vibe felt more casual and accessible than a webinar, which was really fun and refreshing.” – J.G.

“My favorite part of the Jump Starter was receiving guidance and coaching, getting to talk with colleagues, and leaving with practical tools! This is an excellent companion to your regular webinars.” – Aimee Cotton Bogush

“I really loved the interactive style.” – Bethany

“It was great. The short session helped me realize it doesn’t take a lot of time to get these things done. These are a good companion to your lecture-style training. You all are my favorite!” – Leili Khalessi

“I liked this format – instead of just giving me ideas, it gave me space to start working with them in real time & ask any immediate questions that came up through that.” – Anna Mullen
