A new report by App Annie takes us through the last 10 years of social media usage around the world and it’s interesting to see the landscape change from text to images to video.

While most people around the world spend the most time on YouTube, the report notes:

“YouTube remains the leader in the streaming, social and photo and video space due to both depth and breadth of engagement, but the average time spent per user in TikTok has surpassed YouTube in key markets like the US and UK and could shake up the rankings in years to come.”

Another chart in the report shows that TikTok now has the most downloads surpassing Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Does this mean you need to start practicing your TikTok dances? If your supporters and donors aren’t there, then probably not, but you should look into upping your video marketing game regardless. See Which Social Media Channels See the Most ROI? [New Data + Expert Tips].
