Whatever the end of your year looks like, I encourage you to set aside some time to do some prep work to set yourself up for success in 2025.

Here are 15 things you can do to get ready for a great 2026 at your nonprofit:

  1. Clean off your desk/straighten your office
  2. Unsubscribe from emails you don’t need to get anymore
  3. Delete files you don’t need on your hard drive
  4. Do this exercise to reduce burnout and more
  5. Review your workflows and other processes to see what works and what doesn’t
  6. Set one boundary you’ll stick to in 2026
  7. Update your job description and those of your staff to reflect any changes made in the last year
  8. Do a Brain Dump
  9. Review all of the software you use and consider other tech upgrades
  10. Check your email automations (welcome series, thank you responses, re-engagement campaigns, etc)
  11. Organize the photos and stories you collected in 2025
  12. Take the 2026 Nonprofit Communications Survey
  13. Look back and write down your big wins of 2025
  14. Brainstorm goals for next year
  15. Get an All-Access Pass so you and your team are set for professional development in 2026 (and save $200).
